چکیده

In this paper, we present recent improvements of an Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) for the simulation turbulent compressible flows on Cartesian grids. The proposed approach enables to remove spurious oscillations at wall skin pressure and friction coefficients. Results are compared a body-fitted using same function, showing that stair-step immersed boundary provides smooth solution one. method has been modified adapt location forced forcing points involved in reconstruction Reynolds number. This validated either subsonic transonic flow regimes, through around NACA0012 profile RAE2822 three-dimensional ONERA M6 wing.

Immersed boundary technique for turbulent flow simulations

The application of the Immersed Boundary ~IB! method to simulate incompressible, turbulent flows around complex configurations is illustrated; the IB is based on the use of non-body conformal grids, and the effect of the presence of a body in the flow is accounted for by modifying the governing equations. Turbulence is modeled using standard Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes models or the more so...

Numerical Simulations of Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Problems Using an Immersed-boundary Finite-volume Method on Nonstaggered Grids

This article describes the application of the immersed boundary technique for simulating fluid flow and heat transfer problems over or inside complex geometries. The methodology is based on a fractional step method to integrate in time. The governing equations are discretized and solved on a regular mesh with a finite-volume nonstaggered grid technique. Implementations of Dirichlet and Neumann ...

An Improved Direct-forcing Immersed Boundary Method for Fluid- Structure Interaction Simulations

* Corresponding author: [email protected] ABSTRACT Simulation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) of flexible bodies are challenging due to complex geometries and freely moving boundaries. Immersed boundary method has found to be an efficient technique for dealing with FSI problems because of the use of non-body-fitted mesh and simple implementation. In the present work, we developed a FS...

Flow Simulations on Cartesian Grids involving Complex Moving Geometries

We describe a method to solve the compressible time-dependent Euler equations using Cartesian grids for domains involving xed or moving geometries. We describe the concept of a mirror ow extrapolation of a given solution over a reeecting wall which may be curved or moving at a xed or varying speed. We use this mirror ow to develop a Cartesian grid method to treat the cells along a reeecting bou...

An Efficient Euler Method on Non-Moving Cartesian Grids with Boundary-Layer Correction for Wing Flutter Simulations

This paper presents an efficient Euler method on Cartesian grids coupled with an integral Boundary-Layer method. The unsteady Euler equations are solved using cell-centered finite volume method by the implicit-explicit dual-time stepping scheme. The wall boundary conditions on the wing are implemented on the wing chord plane by first order approximation so that non-moving Cartesian grids can be...
